Why would you not have two monitors? Do you never need to refer to two things at the same time?
It's especially useful for me since I can do things like work with the script on one monitor and the video on the other. Beyond that, I usually keep IRC open on the left while I do things on the right.

What's wrong with using subtitles as dub script or vice versa?
In principle, nothing, but simulcast subs can often be a bit lacking due to time constraints (both the time taken to write the script and the time allotted to each line). I'd generally consider the standards for dub scripts to be higher from a writing standpoint.
