Oh, I'll add that I have some fairly new Samsung smart tv and I can set its output to external speakers.

Yeah, that doesn't necessarily mean the audio passthrough will support 5.1, though. Check the manual.

I see. Do you know what I could do to fix that? I mean, I could download 8-bit hardsubbed stuff, but that's not ideal. Is there no way to set my laptop's to 5.1? Moreover, if there even is a way, would that fix the problem, or would the output still be weird because of the laptop -> tv -> amp

I can't really answer that without looking at your laptop and TV myself, unfortunately. I would try and find a way to play the videos on something that supports 5.1 output and hook the audio directly to your amp/receiver.

I'm almost technology illiterate. How do I add Vivid batches to the .mkv files?

Download the patches archive, extract it to the same directory as the releases, and run "runme.bat". Then you can delete the old ones.
Alternatively, you can just scrap what you have and download the batch from scratch. The files included in the batch are already the latest versions.

the fuck? I just watched the last ep of durarara and it was full of still frames that it's even worse than Toei's world trigger. I hope the animation in the coming eps will be back to normal.

Same.

Private paste because it was too long: http://privatepaste.com/22aac0befb

Hm, perhaps. Easiest way would simply be to test it.
Using your TV as a passthrough might also throw a spanner in the works - if I do that with mine, it only outputs stereo, but then my TV is like five years old.

Why have so many translators been retired from fansubbing?

I guess they don't find it very satisfying to work on fansubs when most people watch the simulcast.

How many translators do you know have - more or less - retired in the past few years? (Btw thanks a lot for answering my Haikyuu subs question a while back! Really appreciate it!)

Well, the last few years is basically my entire subbing career, and lots. There were plenty more when I began than there are now.

It's hard for esl to practice pronunciations, especially when you don't have a reliable partner for it. I live in countryside where the people even prefer to use local language than nationals, let alone foreign one. I often practice by talking by myself, but I don't know how far will it take me.

I recommend language exchange over Skype or such.

What types of English books should I read if I want to get better at English? Novels?

Sure, whatever you're interested in really.

>They're supposed to get it whenever Eien puts the educational notes back in episode 1 and batches the show. Who knows when that'll happen, though. It's already batched, though.

Didn't even notice. Fixed.

You know, I meant the bias thing in a jokingly way. No need to take it so seriously. I guess the TLC thing does matter though.

It's kind of hard to tell with anonymous strangers on the internet.
It is true though that I can't really express an opinion on my own shows without bias getting involved.

>ask someone who wasn't involved with either release | Kinda hard when the options are /a/ who will just call commie memesubs

Well, my obviously biased opinion is that one release is better than the other due to TLC and editing.

In the end, why did Aldnoah get A+ release? Pls don't be bias

My unbiased answer will be to tell you to ask someone who wasn't involved with either release, then.

>We sometimes do, but it's usually reviewed at the end. That's understandable if FFF has different people working on them, but I find funny they still haven't gotten blue for NouCome when it was the same staff. Not that guy by the way.

They're supposed to get it whenever Eien puts the educational notes back in episode 1 and batches the show. Who knows when that'll happen, though.
